It seems that Apple’s latest iPhone firmware update that was released in January is causing quite a stir of reported bugs. Many users have complained that their text messaging conversations seem to be out of order. The glitch is even more frustrating in light of the fact that the 1.1.3 update was designed to help iPhone users to send SMS messages to multiple recipients at once. Apple has posted a support document that admits that their “SMS messages may be displayed in the wrong order”. Although they admit there is a problem, they are refusing to label the problem as a “bug”.

To be fair to Apple, not everyone who owns an iPhone is having this problem. It seems to mainly affect those users of O2 in the UK. The first reports of the bug were noticed on January 15th. Apple issued their support document which admitted to the problem on January 21st, but as of January 26th, UK iPhone users were still experiencing the problem and posting complaints that Apple had still not answered their questions to their satisfaction.

Apple simply stated that the problem may be occurring because messages are being sent to each iPhone user too quickly. They also went on to add that if the iPhone is not displaying the same date and time setting as the carrier network is displaying, then the problem may occur. Users should ensure that they are setup to receive the network time by turning the “Set Automatically” feature to “ON”. This feature is located in the general>date and time sequence. However, network time may not be available in some cases, which leaves many iPhone users steaming over the fact that Apple does not seem to be handling their issues. Many users feel that since Apple boasted the feature of sending multiple texts at once they should be taking a much closer look at the bug that is affecting that very feature.
